JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team fell to Old Westbury, 72-45, at home on Friday night, despite strong efforts from Evanda Redwood and Mayan Charles.
 
Redwood scored a game-high 17 points with eight rebounds and Mayan Charles pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds and scored seven points.
 
For Old Westbury, Ruth Vargas scored 17 points and had seven rebounds, while Charlotte Renker had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
 
The Cardinals struggled in the first quarter, falling behind 24-8.  York quickly found itself down by 13 points just 3:18 into the game and could never recover. The Cardinals played tight with Old Westbury the rest of the game, but the early deficit could not be overcome.
 
The loss drops York's record to 1-10, while Old Westbury improves to 7-2. The Cardinals return to action on January 4th with a home game vs. Lehman College.
