JAMAICA, NY – The York College Cardinals women's volleyball team dropped a tough match Wednesday to the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights, 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-13). Despite strong runs throughout all three sets, the streaky play was too much for the Cardinals, ultimately costing them the match.
The Cardinals started strong in the first set, keeping the score close, however a 10-1 run for the Gothic Knights was too much for the Cardinals and they could not come back, dropping the set 25-13.
The second set started out tough for the Cardinals, as they allowed the Gothic Knights a 15-0 run to start. A 12-6 streak by the Cardinals would give them a fighting shot, but New Jersey City would ultimately take the set 25-14.
York was unable to get on a roll in the third set, scoring as much as four unanswered points just once, causing them to drop the set 25-13, and ultimately the match 3-0. Despite the loss, York was lead by strong performances from
Tiandra Jones (6 Kills, 2 Aces) and
Allison Ahmed (2 Aces, 6 Assists, and 7 Digs).
The Cardinals will be back in action on October 7 and 7 pm against the College of Saint Elizabeth Eagles in Morristown, New Jersey.
