YONKERS, N.Y.— An early goal by Sarah Lawrence College proved to be enough as the York College women's soccer team fell to the Gryphons by a score of 1-0 on the road Wednesday night.
 
A goal by Sarah Lawrence's Jordynn Figueroa off a pass from Sophia Spralja in the 18th minute would be the only offense of the night.
 
The Gryphons controlled the game for most of the night, keeping the ball on their side of the field and holding a 20-2 shot advantage.
 
York applied some late pressure, as they tried to get the equalizer, firing off two shots in the final minutes that were blocked and also failing to convert on two corner kicks.
 
In the loss, York's Sarah Hilaire made nine saves.
 
The Cardinals drop to 4-6 on the year, while Sarah Lawrence improves to 3-6. York hosts Lehman College on Saturday at noon on the campus of Queens College.
