JERSEY CITY, NJ—The York College men's volleyball team fell to NJCU 3- 0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-16) on Sunday afternoon, but rebounded to defeat Yeshiva University in its second match 3-0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-14).
The Cardinals were dominant in the win over Yeshiva, hitting .419 as a team, while holding Yeshiva to a percentage of -.121.
Anson Webb led York with ten kills and a .368 hitting percentage.
Kevin Campbell and
Akeem George each chipped in five kills apiece.
Jonathan Liao and
Adil Manji led York in the service game, finishing with five and four aces respectively.
Things didn't go well against NJCU, as York managed just 13 total kills, compared to 27 for NJCU. NJCU's service game proved to be too much, as they finished with 14 aces. The Gothic Knights were also very efficient, hitting .480 on the day.
Akeem George led York with five kills and a hitting percentage of .625 in the loss.
York is now 1-2 after the split. They will open up conference play at a multi-match next Saturday held at Baruch College. They will face Lehman College at 10 a.m. and Medgar Evers College at noon.
