NEW YORK, NY—The York College men's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the CUNYAC multi-match held at Baruch College Saturday morning. York lost the opening match to Lehman College 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) but rebounded to defeat Medgar Evers College (25-17, 28-26, 25-21).
York's opening loss to Lehman was due in large part to what has plagued York early on this season—serve receptions. York allowed 15 aces to Lehman College. Neither team hit efficiently, but the Lightning held a slight edge (.088 to .043).
The Cardinals were led by
Akeem George with six kills and five solo blocks and
Anson Webb added five kills.
York was much more effective against Medgar Evers, hitting .293. George had another big effort, slamming 11 kills and hitting .450.
Anson Webb had 10 kills, hit .333 and added two aces.
Frederis Tapia had six kills.
York is now 2-3, 1-1 CUNYAC. The Cardinals visit Baruch on Thursday at 7 p.m.
