JAMAICA, N.Y.—The 2016 York College men's volleyball season opener did not go as hoped, as the Cardinals lost 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-13) to Cairn University.
Cairn (1-0) controlled the match from the onset, thanks in large part to its impressive service game. They recorded 24 aces. Micha Godshall had ten of those aces, with a big chunk coming during one stretch in the third set. He had also had five kills and hit .571. Andy Willits had a big match as well with a match-high nine kills.
York got three kills apiece from
Anson Webb and
Frederis Tapia. The Cardinals (0-1) will visit New Jersey City University on Sunday for a tri-match beginning at noon. They take on NJCU at noon and Yeshiva University at 2 p.m.
