BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The York College women's soccer team tied a school record with 12 goals against the Cougars of Medgar Evers to earn their first victory of the season by a score of 12-0. Junior
Estefany Delgado broke her own school record by scoring five goals and recording 12 points.
Delgado held the previous record of four goals and nine points in a game on October 13, 2013--which was also against Medgar Evers. York also scored 12 goals in that match. Delgado had four goals by the half in this one, including an impressive goal off a free kick as time expired in the first half. She chipped in a pair of assists as well.
Sophomore
Kennisha Wills earned her first career hat-trick, scoring a total of four goals.
Antonella Campos added two goals, while
Jeniffer Durazno had a goal and an assist.
Lucienne Rouzard started in goal for the first time in her career and recorded a shutout. The defense was stellar and would not let anything past them.
Zoanne Claxton of Medgar Evers had the only shot on goal for the Cougars. Kimonia Mullings had seven saves in the first half before having Marlene Thomspon take over in the second half. Thompson finished with five saves.
The Cardinals look to build off this dominant victory in their first conference match at Lehman College at 6 p.m. on September 16.
