EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J.— The York College men's soccer team did not have much to cheer about in its 2015 season opener, falling on the road to The College of New Jersey Wednesday by a score of 5-0.
The Lions broke the match wide open after a closely-contested first half, erupting for four second-half goals to defeat York for the third straight season.
Despite being outshot badly throughout the first half, the Cardinals kept TCNJ from scoring until the 44
th minute. Mike Schiumo then broke through against York keeper
Masamba Drame, following an assist from Greg Kaye.
In the second half, things got worse for York, as TCNJ exploded for three goals in just a 13-minute span. Sean Etheridge (56th minute), Mike Costelloe (64th minute), and Nick Sample (69th minute) scored to put the match well out of reach. TCNJ then added a late goal from Michael Kassick in the 83rd minute to round out the scoring for the evening.
York (0-1) will look to get in the win column in their next match on Sunday vs. Yeshiva at Votee Park at 8:30 p.m.
