York’s Offense Shutout in 5-0 Loss to Rams

JAMAICA, N.Y. – The York College men's soccer team was defeated by the Farmingdale State Rams, 5-0, due in part to a lack of offensive opportunities by the Cardinals.

York was able to bring energy in the beginning of the match. The Cardinals were quick on their feet and pressured the Rams and trailed just 1-0 going into halftime. However, as the match went on, York seemed to run out of gas.

Farmingdale dominated play in the second half and scored four goals to run away with the match. The inability to maintain possession hurt York all throughout the match. The Cardinals were able to only get three shots on goal in the match due to the stellar defense by Farmingdale State.

Richard Mastrangelo, who tallied two goals, led the Rams' offense. Victor Romero also contributed a goal and had an assist as well. Kevin Gordillo had a shutout in goal, only needing three saves to do so.  York senior defender Rohan Burrell had a solid night all-around. Despite the outcome, Burrell still played with energy leadership. He led the team in shots (4).

York's next matchup is against conference-foe Hunter College on Saturday, September 26 at 12 p.m.
