BRONX, N.Y.— The York College women's tennis played its first-ever spring match on Thursday afternoon as part of its non-traditional season. The Cardinals came up short in the match at Lehman College by a score of 8-0.
Despite not earning a victory, the Cardinals played several tough matches but could not pick up crucial points throughout that would have swung the score in their favor. NaaDira Patrick picked up a first-set win at #1 singles, but then dropped the next two sets.
Joanne Ly was edged in the first set of her #2 singles match, and then dropped the second set as well (7-6, 6-3).
Danielle Dunn was also nipped at #4 singles, losing 7-6, 6-4, as was
Sarah Hilaire, who lost 7-5, 6-2.
Despite the loss, York hopes the match will help prepare the team for the traditional season, which begins in the Fall semester of 2015.
