NEW YORK, N.Y. – The York College men's volleyball team dropped matches to the top two teams in the CUNY Athletic Conference on Saturday. York lost to #10 Baruch College 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-23) and later fell to first-place Hunter College 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16).
The two losses mean that York is now locked into the #3 seed for the upcoming CUNYAC Tournament. The Cardinals are 13-16 overall and 11-4 in CUNYAC play. York cannot catch Hunter or Baruch with just one CUNYAC game remaining, and John Jay College, who is in fourth place, cannot catch York for third place. This means York will get to host a first-round playoff game next Tuesday, April 7.
Leading the way for York on the afternoon was
Randy Adams, who recorded eight kills and seven digs against Baruch and 12 kills, five digs and three blocks vs. Hunter.
Edner Geffrard finished with seven kill apiece against both teams.
Sebastien Francois had a good effort against Baruch adding eight kills, while
Anson Webb had seven blocks against the Bearcats. Libero
Paramvir Singh totaled 16 digs in the two matches.
York will close out CUNYAC play on Tuesday, March 31 on the road against Lehman College at 7 p.m.
