JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College men's tennis team fell in its season-opening match to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday afternoon, losing 9-0.
The Mariners won all singles matches in straight sets and scored two convincing doubles victories. At second doubles, the team of
Hasnain Khatri and
Haseeb Raza looked like they would come out on top after leading 5-4. However, USMMA closed out the match by winning the last four games.
York will look for a better result in its next match on Saturday against Rutgers-Newark at noon. However, the weather report is not promising for this weekend. Be sure to check yorkathletics.com for an update on the status of the match.
