RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Looking to build off the momentum of their first win the night before, the York College men's volleyball team came up flat in a non-conference contest against the College of Mt. St. Vincent, losing 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-12).
The Cardinals made too many mistakes on the night, finishing with a negative hitting percentage, while also struggling in the service game—failing to record an ace. York also struggled to contain the Dolphins' Marc Barreda, who posted a match-high 10 kills, while hitting .600. Brett Holiday also slammed six kills and hit .545. Mt. St. Vincent is now 3-1 on the season.
In the loss, York was led by seniors
Edner Geffrard (8 kills) and
Sebastien Francois (5 kills, 5 digs). York falls to 1-7 on the season.
York will hope for better results this Saturday when they open up CUNYAC play. The Cardinals will take on Lehman College at 9 a.m. and Medgar Evers College at 1 p.m. as part of CUNYAC multi-match held at John Jay College.
