Cardinals Come up Short vs. Lehman College

BRONX, N.Y. –The York College men's basketball team rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit against Lehman College on Friday night, only to see the Lightning pull away late and defeat the Cardinals, 81-72.

York (13-11, 8-7 CUNYAC) was led by Cyril Reid who scored a game-high 24 points and by Frankin Green who finished with a season-high 22 points.  Jaron Williams added 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, while Du'Quan Lawson scored eight points with four assists and five steals.

Lehman (16-8, 11-4 CUNYAC) was paced by Jonathan Greenfield, who had 23 points. Olando Minott scored 16 points and dished out six assists.

The Cardinals lost despite a strong outside shooting night, where they connected on 50 percent (7-of-14) shots from three-point range.  Lehman offset this by shooting well also, making 54 percent of its shots from the field and 91 percent of its free throws.

York trailed by 12 in the first half but rallied to take a one-point lead in the second half, after a 12-1 run put them up 61-60 with 8:07 remaining.  However, Lehman controlled the end of the game, outscoring York 16-8 over the final six minutes.

The Cardinals will look to close out the regular season strong when they visit Hunter College on Tuesday, February 17 at 7 p.m.
