York Improves to 2-0 in CUNYAC with Win

BOX SCORE
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The York College men's soccer team scored four second-half goals to erase a first-half deficit and defeat the Hunter College men's soccer team, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals got four goals from four different players, with three of those goals assisted by freshman Diron Duah and improved to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

Hunter's Brandon Fiscina put the Hawks (0-9, 0-2 CUNYAC) ahead in the 23rd minute off a pass from Fausto Perez, giving them a 1-0 lead, which they took into halftime.

Shortly after the break, York evened up the score in the 48th minute, when Rohan Burrell scored his first goal of the season following a free kick from the left side of the box.

The score would remain tied until the 71st minute, when Stefano Archangel also netted his first goal of 2014, after he was set up on a cross from Albert Lucas from about 25 feet out.   Just eight minutes later, York got some breathing room, when Huguens Smith scored after another nice cross from Duah, giving the Cardinals a 3-1 advantage.

Hunter followed with the second goal of the afternoon from Fiscina, to make the score 3-2 in the 84th minute.  The Hawks fought to get the equalizer from there, but York put the nail in the coffin with a goal in the 89th minute from Rachidi Amadou. Once again, it was Duah who set it up, picking up his third assist of the afternoon.

The Cardinals will have another key CUNYAC contest in their next match on Monday, when they host Medgar Evers College at 3:30 p.m. at Aviator Sports and Events Center.
