RESULTSPATCHOGUE, N.Y.— After waiting a week to get the season started because of two rained-out matches, the York College women's tennis team finally got the 2014 season underway on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they came out on the short end, losing 9-0 to St. Joseph's College (Long Island).
St. Joseph's had little trouble in the match, winning all nine matches in straight sets. The Eagles were led by Kelly McGrath, who did not drop a game at #2 singles or #1 doubles. St. Joseph's improves to 2-0 on the season.
The match was the first for new women's tennis coach,
Gemma Alexander-Mozeak. After a long wait to get started, she'll have to get her team ready for their second match much quicker, as they will take on John Jay College at 4 p.m. on Friday at Queens College.
