JAMAICA, N.Y. – The York College women's basketball team faced Lehman College on Tuesday for their second straight CUNYAC matchup. The Cardinals lost their first conference game of the year with the score being 58-52.
The game kicked off with an
Angelika Ruggiano 3-pointer to put the Cardinals on the board first. Lehman answered back quickly as Amani Lightbourne made a layup and Jennifer Navarro added a 3-pointer to give the Lightning a 5-4 lead. York would go on a mini-run, as they would score the next 7 out of 10 points, featuring a

They would hold the lead for the remainder of the half, as York went into the locker room at halftime down 34-24.
Early shooting issues were to blame for York's first half deficit, as the Cardinals made only 9-33 shots. The Lightning made just under half of their shots, as they went 12-26, giving them a 10-point lead.
Jennifer Navarro led the Lightning with 12 points, all coming from 3-pointers as she knocked down 4 shots from beyond the arc.

Stayce Kay Muirhead nabbed 6 rebounds.
With seven minutes gone in the second half, the deficit remained at 10 points. The Cardinals showed some fight with 11:03 left in the game, as they scored seven unanswered points bringing the score to 46-42, taking the momentum with just under eight minutes remaining. The Cardinals' run would end after an Amely Del Rosario layup and another Navarro 3-pointer, her sixth and final of the game, bringing the score to 51-42.
York would bring the score to 52-48 after a Ruggiano layup with 1 minute left, but that's the closest the Cardinals would get, as the Lightning would take the victory, 58-52.
Bond finished with 16 points and Muirhead collected 12 rebounds in the losing effort. The Lightning were led by Navarro and Del Rosario, who had 20 and 14 points respectively. Karrin Walker collected a game-high 16 rebounds for Lehman as well.

With the win, Lehman (5-2, 3-0 CUNYAC) remains atop the CUNYAC standings. York (3-6, 2-1 CUNYAC) will be back in action on Friday, December 12th when they travel to Baruch to face their third straight CUNYAC opponent.
