NEW YORK, N.Y. – York College's
Tamika Taylor put together an impressive debut, scoring 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds, while also connecting on five three pointers, but it would not be enough, as the Cardinals fell to Baruch College, 93-52, on Friday night.
Outside of Taylor's great performance, there weren't too many bright spots for York, as the defending CUNYAC Champion Bearcats jumped out to early lead and never looked back. Baruch opened the game with an 8-0 run and then closed the half on a 17-2 run to go up 52-26 at the break. Baruch extended that lead throughout the second half to cruise to victory.
Baruch had six players score in double figures, led by Alicea Ulmer with 19 points and 12 boards. Sheridan Taylor added 15 points and shot 70 percent from the field.
Also contributing for York was
Angelika Ruggiano with ten points and
Samantha Bond with nine.
York falls to 3-7 overall, 2-2 CUNYAC, while Baruch improves to 4-3 overall, 3-0 CUNYAC. The Cardinals are now idle until after the new year when they visit Brooklyn College on January 6.
