FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The York College women's volleyball team saw its three-match win streak come to an end with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-15) loss to Farmingdale State College on Wednesday evening.
The Rams controlled the contest, particularly in the first and third sets, where they held the Cardinals to a negative hitting percentage. In the third set, Farmingdale also hit .450, recording 11 kills to just two errors. The Cardinals played the Rams tight in the second set, holding an early lead, but Farmingdale pulled ahead midway and never looked back.
The big difference in the match was the serving game of the Rams. They collected 16 aces, led by Gina Giacalone with six. In the loss, York was led by
Stayce Kay Muirhead, who was tied for a match high in kills with eight, while also adding two blocks.
Allison Li chipped in 11 digs.
The Cardinals drop to 4-14, while Farmingdale improves to 8-15. York visits Pratt Institute tomorrow at 7 p.m.
