Delgado Scores Three Times to Lift Women’s Soccer to Win Over Berkeley

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – York College's Estefany Delgado scored three times in the second half to lead the Cardinals women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Berkeley College (NY) on Wednesday evening.

After being held without a goal in the first half, despite 13 shots on goal, the Cardinals finally broke through in a big way in the second half.  Delgado put York on the board in the 51st minute on a breakaway to make it 1-0.  Then in the 68th minute, Jessica Cornejo's throw in found Delgado, who scored again.  Delgado then capped off her evening by scoring on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

As a team, York dominated the contest, outshooting Berkeley 34-15.  Berkeley's Briana Ortega made 20 saves in net in a losing effort. Sarah Hilaire stopped six shots in goal for York to earn the shutout.

With the win, York is now 2-7, while Berkeley is 0-2.  The Cardinals return to action on Sunday when they host Sarah Lawrence College at 12:30 at Randall's Island, Field #10.
