YONKERS, N.Y. – The York College women's soccer team couldn't stop Yeshiva University's offensive attack as the Cardinals lost on Friday afternoon, 6-0.
The Maccabees' offense was relentless, outshooting York 30-3 throughout the match. The first half started promising, as both teams were playing well defensively. However, Yeshiva started their scoring quickly, as Merav Saden Barach scored three goals in the 31st-34th minute of action, including a laser shot from outside of the box for her second goal.
The second half featured another three goals for the Maccabees, including one in the 58th minute from Natasha Bassalian, which was assisted by Esther Eliacheff, her second assist of the match. Bassalian's goal was added to a stat sheet that also featured three assists for the match. Shlomit Braun and Jennifer Shamsian each added a goal of their own, bringing the score to 6-0.
Cardinals' goalkeeper,
Sarah Hilaire, collected 15 saves in the match putting her up over the 100 saves mark on the year with 107, which is good for second in the CUNYAC.
With the loss, York's record falls to 2-13 while the Maccabees' record improves to 2-10.
The Cardinals will wrap their season up on the road against Medgar Evers on Monday, October 27th at 4:00 pm.
