STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The York College men's soccer team allowed five second-half goals to CUNYAC foe, the College of Staten Island Saturday afternoon and lost by a final score of 6-1.
York outshot CSI 10-3 in the first half, but the Dolphins were the ones who scored the period's only goal, which came in the 42
nd minute. Staten Island's Dardan Nika scored the goal off of a corner kick from Nermin Kurtesi.
In the second half, Staten Island managed to increase their shot total to 22 after taking an outstanding 19 shots in the period. The five-goal outburst started early in the second half when CSI's Horatio Reid scored in the 46th minute from Remiah Rodney and Nika assists. Rodney and Rami Garah each added a goal and Kurtesi netted two other goals to increase the Dolphin's score to six goals.
The Cardinals managed to get on the board in the 71st minute on a header by
Rohan Burrell from a corner by
Diron Duah.
CSI improves to 7-8-1, 4-1 CUNYAC and the Cardinals fall to 4-10, 2-5 CUNYAC with the loss.
York will host Berkley College in their final home match of the season on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
