Turnovers Plague Women’s Basketball in Loss to Mt. St. Vincent

BOX SCORE
RIVERDALE, N.Y.— The York College women's basketball team could not overcome a high turnover differential and lost to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 71-46 on Thursday night.

York committed 34 turnovers on the night, which led to 36 Mt. St. Vincent points.  Meanwhile, the Dolphins committed just 10 miscues and allowed only four points off turnovers.

19 of the turnovers came in the first half, where the Cardinals put themselves in a hole they could not climb out of.  Mt. St. Vincent opened the game on an 11-2 run and never trailed after the opening York bucket.  They also closed the half strong, with a 13-2 run, and took a 35-17 lead into halftime.

The Cardinals showed a bit of life out of the gates in the second half as they knocked down three shots from beyond the arc in the opening 1:40 to close to within nine points. But following a timeout, the Dolphins picked it back up and went on a 24-10 run over a ten-minute stretch to put the game well out of reach.
