Women’s Volleyball Comes up Empty at SUNYIT Tournament

MARCY, N.Y. – The York College women's volleyball team played four matches at the SUNYIT tournament on Friday and Saturday and came out on the short end each time.
On Friday, the Cardinals opened the tournament with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-18, 25-13) loss to SUNYIT and later fell to Cazenovia College 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-11). On Saturday, they were upended by Wells College 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16), before closing out the tournament with a loss to SUNY Canton, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-8).
Against SUNYIT, the Cardinals top performers were
Shauncia McClendon, who recorded four kills and a .429 hitting percentage and
Allison Li, who finished with a match-high 12 digs. Against Cazenovia,
Yasheka Lewis finished with four kills and a .571 hitting percentage, while
Carlean McCrimmon had four kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
In the match against Wells, McCrimmon and
Stayce Kay Muirhead each had five kills apiece and Li and
Evelyn Florentino each finished with eight digs.
York will return to action on Monday with a road match against Purchase College at 7:00 p.m.
