BOX SCORE
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The York College men's soccer team tallied eight goals—its highest total in a match since 2008— and defeated St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), 8-0, in its 2013 home opener on Tuesday afternoon.

The eight goals were the most scored by York College since September 4, 2008, when the Cardinals routed Yeshiva University, 14-3.

Three Cardinals scored two goals apiece— Brian Broadbelt, Andre Adelson, and Rohan Burrell.  Burrell, who was recently named CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, started things off in the eighth minute of action, when he took a pass down the sideline from Remi Molake dribbled down the field and fired a low shot that beat the keeper.  He scored a second time in the 26th minute following a pass from Kevin Gonzalez.

Broadbelt was bending it like Beckham in the match as he scored both his goals off free kicks.  The first came in the 21st minute from inside the goalie box, where he went top shelf to make it 2-0.  His second goal was even more impressive, as he lofted a free kick from 30 yards out and past the outstretched hands of the keeper in the 73rd minute.

Adelson, who didn't enter the contest until late in the first half, wasted little time getting in on the action, scoring his first in the 31st minute off an assist from McLaney Moise and then another in the 49th minute from Michael Delgado.

Albert Lucas scored in the 63rd minute with help from teammate Frank Rodriguez, and later in the match, Rodriguez added a goal of his own to round out the scoring for York.

Goalie Leszek Stankiewicz made three stops in net to earn the shutout.
