NEW YORK, NY— After trailing at halftime, the York College men's basketball team dominated the second half to top Hunter College by a score of 72-64 in an important CUNY Athletic Conference match-up on Wednesday night.
The Cardinals trailed by three points at the half but outscored the Hawks by 11 in the second half and avenged a loss to Hunter from earlier in the season. York saw big efforts from three players in the game, led by

Shamir Wilkinson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards and
Du'Quan Lawson finished with a career-high 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
In what seems a to be a trend lately, the Cardinals had a rough first half and trailed by as many as 11. They closed the half strong though and cut the deficit to a manageable three points going into the locker room. York carried that momentum into the second half and quickly reversed its fortunes by opening up a 13-1 run out of the gate to take a 45-37 advantage. A Lawson three-pointer highlighted the stretch. It was all York from there, as they led by as many as 14 and held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
Hunter drops to 7-16, 4-10 in the CUNYAC, while York improves to 10-13, 6-8 in the CUNYAC. York will host Medgar Evers College on Friday at 8:00 p.m. It is also the 3rd Annual Spirit Day at York. Jet Blue tickets and Applebee's gift cards will be raffled off and t-shirts will be given away. Seniors
Tony Vails and
