BRONX, N.Y. – The York College men's and women's swim teams closed out the 2012-13 season at the CUNYAC Championships held at Lehman College this weekend.  The men finished in fifth place and the women placed seventh.

Freshman Sandra Shamburger was once again the star for York as she medaled in two events.  After finishing fourth in the 50-freestyle on Thursday, Shamburger improved on her performance in two events. She placed second out of 20 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.07, and was third out of 19 swimmers in the 100-breaststroke, touching the wall in a time of 1:17.65. It was swimmers from women's team champion, Baruch College that bested her in each race.   Julia Sung, of Baruch College, who was named Most Valuable Swimmer, set a new meet record to beat Shamburger in the 100-breaststroke.

The men from Lehman College, who scored 1052 points, just edged out Baruch College, who finished with 1,000 points, in the closest CUNYAC Championships meet ever.  Jacky Lau of Baruch College was named the Most Valuable Swimmer.
