Men’s Soccer Closes Regular Season With Loss to Baruch

Baruch Strikes Twice in FInal 10 Minutes to Stay Perfect in the CUNYAC

BOX SCORE
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The York College men's soccer team gave the first-place Baruch College Bearcats everything they had, but two Baruch goals in the final ten minutes propelled the Bearcats to a 3-1 win over the Cardinals in the regular season finale.

Baruch—who now finishes the 2013 season with a 9-5 overall record and a perfect 8-0 CUNYAC record—was led by Oren Kozlowski who was responsible for all three goals in the win.  Koslowski broke a scoreless tie in the 27th minute when he bent a shot in the top left corner of the net for a 1-0 advantage.

But York got the equalizer late in the half.  With the ball inside the goalie box, Brandon Yotagri headed a ball towards Rachidi Amadou.  Amadou was able to kick the ball in mid-air and into the net to tie the score at 1-1 in the 44th minute.

The score would remain the same until the 81st minute when Kozlowski struck again, scoring off a free kick just outside the goalie box.  He then gave the Bearcats insurance with another goal in the 90th minute.

Both goalies were kept busy in the match with 41 shots taken in total.  Baruch held a slight, 21-20 shot advantage.  Leszek Stankiewicz stopped six shots in goal for York, while Guy Sharav turned away nine shots.

York finishes the regular season with a record of 6-10-1, 3-5 in the CUNYAC.  They will await to find out their seeding for the CUNYAC Quarterfinals.  Those matchups will be announced on Monday.
