Lehman Rallies Late to Top Women’s Basketball

BOX SCORE
JAMAICA, NY— Lehman College rallied from a 13-point deficit with under five minutes to play to top the York College women's basketball team by a score of 52-49 on Friday night.  Lehman's Jennifer Navarro drained a three-pointer with three seconds remaining the cap off the comeback.

York looked to be in control as they led for most of the contest, leading by as much as 17-points in the second half.   But the Lightning switched to a full court press late in the game and the Cardinals had difficulty adjusting.  In addition, three York starters fouled out, thinning the Cardinals bench in the key moments of the game.

York was up by seven points (49-42) with 2:19 to play but was held scoreless the rest of the way.   Turnovers would plague York, allowing Lehman to rally back to tie the game.  With three seconds left, Navarro would hit the game-winning three-pointer.  York could not get off a final shot.

York's Stayce Kay Muirhead saw one of the best performances of her career wasted as she grabbed a career-high 24 rebounds to go along with 11 points and six steals.  Ishonda McFarland finished with a team-high 15 points and six steals. Danielle Dunn chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.

Navarro had a game-high 18 points and drained five three-pointers.  Kianti Powell finished with 17 points.

Lehman improves to 2-15, 2-7 in the CUNYAC, while York falls to 1-15, 1-7 in the CUNYAC. The Cardinals will host the College of Staten Island on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
