BOX SCORE
PATCHOGUE N.Y.— The 2012 York College men's soccer season got off to a rocky start as the Cardinals fell to a talented St. Joseph's College (LI) team by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Terrence Dzus scored just 2:54 into the contest.  Later in the first half, in the 17th minute, St. Joseph's Fabio Alves took a pass from Dylan Ieradi and beat York goalie Qudus Kassim to make it 2-0.  Just over two minutes later, Ieradi added a goal of his own to make it 3-0.  St. Joseph's would add a fourth goal in the first half, as Alves added his second goal of the game.  In the second half, the Golden Eagles added two more tallies to round out the scoring.

Kassim was busy in goal for York all day long, as the Golden Eagles took 24 shots, 17 off which were on the mark.  Despite giving up six goals, Kassim did manage to turn away 11 shots on the day.

The Cardinals could only manage six shots, three of which tested St. Joseph's goalie, Chris Muls, who earned the shutout.

The Golden Eagles improve to 2-0 on the year, while York drops to 0-1.  The Cardinals will visit Rutgers-Newark on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
