Men’s Tennis Eliminated by John Jay in CUNYAC Quarterfinals
FLUSHING, NY – The York College men's tennis team was eliminated by John Jay College in the quarterfinals of the 2012 CUNYAC Men's Tennis Championship, losing by a score of 5-0 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Wednesday afternoon.
John Jay, the #2 seed, had little trouble with the seventh-seeded Cardinals. The Bloodhounds' Erkut Cakmak defeated York's
Ayman Busat 6-1, 6-0 at
1 singles and also teamed up with Stephen Walz to win at 1 doubles. John Jay won the other two doubles match and also won at #4 singles to clinch the match.
John Jay now advances to the semifinals on Sunday and will take on Hunter College. York will close the 2012 season with a non-conference contest against St. Joseph's (Brooklyn). The date and time of that game will be announced soon.
