Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season on a High Note with Win over Rutgers-Newark
JAMAICA, N.Y-- The York College men's tennis team closed the 2012 regular season Monday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Rutgers-Newark University. York's
Gary Reynoso and
Iheanyi Agbor led the way with pair of victories in their respective singles and doubles matches.
Reynoso, who played at #1 singles, won in three sets by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 and also won his #1 doubles match with teammate
Erick Giron by a score of 8-6. Agbor was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at #3 singles and an 8-5 winner with teammate Kalsang Chossphel at #2 doubles.
York is now 4-12 and will take on John Jay College in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship. York is the #7 seed, while John Jay earned the #2 slot. That match will be held this Wednesday, April 25 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY beginning at 3:30 p.m.
