Men’s Volleyball Picks up Fourth Straight Victory with Three-Set Triumph over Lehman

JAMAICA, N.Y.— The York College men's volleyball team continued its winning ways, picking up its fourth straight win and improving to 4-0 in conference play with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 28-26) victory over rival Lehman College on Tuesday evening.
The Cardinals (9-8, 4-0 CUNYAC) were sharp all night, hitting .258 as a team.
Bryan Williams had one of his best matches this season, slamming 14 kills and hitting .323. Two-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week,
Edner Geffrard had 10 kills, (.273) five digs and four blocks and
Terrence Sutton had a strong all-around game, recording eight kills and picking up a match-high 14 digs.
Jon Peter Sardea added 13 assists, while
Glenn Vargas registered 14 assists in just one set of play.
The Cardinals were on their game all night, as they easily picked up wins in the first two sets. In the third set, the Cardinals came out a little sloppy and Lehman jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage. York slowly battled back to even the score up at 15-15. From there, the two teams went back and forth to the very end. York had match point at 25-24 after a
Bryan Williams kill. But the Lightning would not go quietly and fought off three match points. On the fourth try, York finally broke through to clinch the match thanks to a Lehman attack error.
The Lightning were led by Luis Colon, who had nine kills (.227) and six digs. Brian Francisco had seven kills and four digs for the Lightning and Miguel Gallardo had 26 assists and ten digs. Lehman drops to 7-5, 3-2 in the CUNYAC with the loss.
York will return to action on Saturday, when they take on The City College of New York and Brooklyn College in a CUNYAC multi-match held at CCNY beginning at 1:00 p.m.
