Men’s Track & Field Places 4th at CUNYAC Championships; Weekes, Ologundudu & Burnett All Earn Medals

NEW YORK, N.Y—The York College men's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the 2012 CUNY Athletic Conference/ U.S. Army Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the New Balance Track & Field Center Sunday night. Middle-distance runner

Olabimpe M. Ologundudu and Steve Burnett all earned medals to lead the Cardinals.
The Cardinals earned 60 team points on the night. City College ran away with the title, earning 137.25 points. Medgar Evers College placed second (102.5), followed by Hunter College (76.25), York and Lehman College (56).
Weekes, placed third overall and second among senior colleges in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.79, which was just shy of his personal-best time of 1:57.14. Later Weekes added a fifth-place finish in both the mile run (4:45.06) and 400-meter dash (51.00). His run in the 400-meters was third best among senior college runners.
Ologundudu continued his strong season in field events, placing second overall and first among senior colleges in the high jump with a height of 1.84 meters. Also contributing for York was Steve Burnett, who placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 11.89 meters and fifth in the shot put with throw of 10.61 meters.
In relay events, the 4x400 relay team of

Jason Shaw,
Jesus Medina and Weekes placed fifth overall and third among senior colleges with a time of 3:37.89. In the distance medley relay, Shaw, Peguero, Weekes and
Kyle Gomes were third overall and first among senior colleges with a time of 11:19.61.
York will return to action at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships next Saturday.
Tarik Weekes has qualified and will compete in the 800-meter run at the New Balance Track & Field Center.
