CAMBRIDGE, M.A.— The York College men's volleyball team had a number of tough losses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational Tournament Saturday and Sunday.  York lost all four of its matches, with two of those matches lasting five sets.

On Saturday, York opened up with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-14) loss to Elms College.  Later in the day, they dropped a hard-fought five setter to Johnson & Wales University 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 17-25, 25-13, 15-11).

On Sunday, they fell to host MIT, who is ranked fifth in the nation, by a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-17) and dropped another five-setter, losing to Emerson College 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 15-10).

York did have some strong individual performances despite the rough weekend.  Freshman Edner Geffrard averaged 17.5 kills during the four matches, including a 29-kill outing against Emerson and 25-kill performance against Johnson & Wales.

Junior Bryan Williams performed well also; recording at least six kills in every match, while tallying 14 in the five-setter against Johnson & Wales.  Setter Jon Peter Sardea had 44 assists against Johnson & Wales, while Glenn Vargas added 40 assists against Emerson.

On defense, Terrence Sutton had a nice weekend, which was highlighted by a 24-dig performance against Emerson.

York (5-8) will host both CCNY and St. Joseph's (BK) at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively on Thursday.
