Women’s Volleyball Falls Twice in Tri-Match on the Road

WAYNE, NJ— The York College women's volleyball team was away on Saturday afternoon and lost both of its matches. The Cardinals lost in their opening match to United States Merchant Marine Academy 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-12) and then 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-12) to William Paterson University to end the day.

York dropped the first set and couldn't recover, losing each by double digits. USMAA was too much for York with 27 kills total to York's 13. As a team, York served up seven aces in contrast to Merchant Marine, who had 21.
The Cardinals were led by
Sharon Fordyce with five aces and two kills. Sophomore
NaaDira Patrick had four kills and
Allison Li had eight digs. The Mariners (10-10) were led by Michelle Danhof with ten kills and four aces.

York was swept by William Paterson, losing their second straight match. The Cardinals were led by
NaaDira Patrick with six kills and
Allison Li with eight digs. The Pioneers feasted on York with 34 kills while the Cardinals swatted 19. York allowed 11 aces and contributed eight errors to go along with the loss.
William Paterson (13-9) was led by Shauna VanDeRee with ten kills and nine digs. The Cardinals made a strong effort in the second set, losing 25-19 and then could not recover in the next set.
York is now 6-18 and will return to action on Monday when they take on conference-rivals Brooklyn College at 10:00 a.m. and then Lehman College at 2:00 p.m. in New York City.
