CCNY Scores Three First-Half Goals in Win over Women’s Soccer

BOX SCORE
MASPETH, N.Y.—  The City College of New York scored three first-half goals and cruised from there as they defeated the York College women's soccer team, 3-0, in CUNY Athletic Conference action on Saturday morning at the Metropolitan Oval.

CCNY got an early goal thanks to a penalty kick following a foul in York's goalie box.  Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade converted the penalty kick in 20th minute to put the Beavers on top.  A little over 11 minutes later, CCNY's Frances Tapia took a pass from Paola Ramos and beat York keeper Kiara Libreros to make it 2-0.  CCNY then rounded out the scoring in the 40th minute, when Asamoah-Wade added her second goal of the contest—this time lofting a shot over the keeper's head, following a pass from Heather Ruger.

With the loss, York drops to 4-7-1, 1-4 in the CUNYAC.  CCNY improves to 8-2, 3-0 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will visit Purchase College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
