CCNY Scores Three First-Half Goals in Win over Women’s Soccer

MASPETH, N.Y.— The City College of New York scored three first-half goals and cruised from there as they defeated the York College women's soccer team, 3-0, in CUNY Athletic Conference action on Saturday morning at the Metropolitan Oval.
CCNY got an early goal thanks to a penalty kick following a foul in York's goalie box. Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade converted the penalty kick in 20
th minute to put the Beavers on top. A little over 11 minutes later, CCNY's Frances Tapia took a pass from Paola Ramos and beat York keeper
Kiara Libreros to make it 2-0. CCNY then rounded out the scoring in the 40
th minute, when Asamoah-Wade added her second goal of the contest—this time lofting a shot over the keeper's head, following a pass from Heather Ruger.
With the loss, York drops to 4-7-1, 1-4 in the CUNYAC. CCNY improves to 8-2, 3-0 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will visit Purchase College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
