Women’s Tennis Exits CUNYAC Championships Early With Loss to Baruch in Quarterfinals
FLUSHING, N.Y.— The York College women's tennis team saw its hopes of a deep playoff run end early, losing to Baruch College, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championships held at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing, Wednesday evening.
The Bearcats got a bit of revenge on the Cardinals with the win. The two teams met in last year's quarterfinals, with York edging out Baruch. This time around it proved to be a one-sided affair. Baruch was not threatened in any match and quickly picked up five wins.
Baruch (8-6) swept doubles play to go up 3-0 and then got wins at #2 and #6 singles to clinch the match.
York (3-9) will close out the fall portion of its schedule on October 29 with a road contest against the College of New Rochelle at 3:00 p.m.
