Lehman’s De La Cruz and Gordon too Much for Women’s Basketball

BOX SCORE
JAMAICA, N.Y.—Lehman College's Amanda De La Cruz recorded a triple-double, scoring 16 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 16 assists and Jaleesa Gordon had 25 points and 15 boards as the Lightning topped the York College women's basketball team by a score of 87-67.

The pair of Lehman players was just too much for the Cardinals to handle all night.  Lehman went up by double digits early, taking an 11 point lead when a De La Cruz jumper made the score 18-7 with 13:10 in the half.   Lehman pretty much held a comfortable lead for the remainder of the contest.

York was able to briefly close to within three points after an 8-1 run cut a ten-point deficit to three points (29-26) with 4:31 in the first half.  Lehman quickly responded with a 6-0 run to go back up by nine points though and was never really threatened from that point on.  Lehman held a nine-point lead at halftime and led by as many as 28 in the second half.

Despite the loss, York's Shadae Rice had another solid game, scoring a team-high 17 points to go along with five assists.  Ishonda McFarland had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Shadaea Green also netted 14 points.

Lehman improves to 9-10, 4-3 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 1-14, 1-4 in CUNYAC play.  The Cardinals will host USMMA on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
