CCNY Downs Women’s Soccer, 4-0

NEW YORK, NY—The City College of New York used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the York College women's soccer team by a score of 4-0 in a CUNY Athletic Conference contest Thursday afternoon.
CCNY picked up a pair of goals in each half as they went on to defeat the Cardinals for the second time this season. Yanique Newman put the Beavers on the scoreboard in the 29
th minute when she netted an unassisted goal. Later in the half, in the 42
nd minute, Nicole Carroll set up Dzindzi A-Wade for a goal to put CCNY up by two just before halftime.
CCNY continued the pressure in the second half, making it 3-0, when Frances Tapia found Tabita Azor, who beat the York keeper. They later rounded out the scoring, when Tapia got a goal of her own in the 78
th minute.
The Beavers controlled all aspects of the game, holding a 23-5 edge in shots and a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks.
CCNY improves to 3-4, 2-2 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 1-6, 0-4 in the CUNYAC. The Cardinals will host Purchase College on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
