Men’s Soccer Overmatched by Medaille College

BOX SCORE

BUFFALO, NY— Medaille College, who advanced to last year's round of 16 of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship, proved to be too strong for the York College men's soccer team, who saw its struggles continue as they lost to Medaille by a score of 8-0 Friday evening.

Medaille's Rouse Alexander scored four of the Maverick's goals on the day, with three of them coming in succession in the second half.  Four other players chipped in a goal apiece to round out the scoring.

Despite the score, the game was close early on, as the two teams were scoreless for the first 27 minutes of play.  However, from that point on, the Mavericks unleashed a relentless flurry of goals, three of which came within two minutes of each other shortly after halftime.

York goalie Quddus Kassim had his hands full as he faced 38 shots on the day, with 23 being on goal.  Kassim did manage to stop 15 shots on the evening.   York could only muster six shots on the night, with half of them forcing the keeper to make a save.

The loss drops York's record to 0-7, while Medaille improves to 4-2-1.  York will have a quick turnaround, as they will visit SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.
