Women’s Basketball Struggles Against Eastern Mennonite

BOX SCORE HARRISONBURG, V.A.—The York College women's basketball team had a game to forget as they lost to host Eastern Mennonite University in the final game of the Eastern Mennonite University Tip-Off Classic Saturday afternoon.
 
Eastern Mennonite dominated from the onset, jumping out to as 20-4 advantage just 4:20 into the contest.  EMU continued to pour it on in the first half, forcing 22 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of play, while also holding York to 14 percent shooting from the field.  Meanwhile, EMU was lights-out offensively, shooting 52 percent from the field in the first half and 71 percent from three-point range.  At halftime the score was 65-16.
 
The second half did not go any better for the Cardinals as EMU continued to force turnovers defensively, which they turned into easy points on the other side.  They shot 50 percent from the field, forced 39 turnovers and out-rebounded York 56-37.  By game's end, the final score was 113-33.
 
EMU (2-0) had six players reach double figures, and every member of the team scored at least one point.  Alisa Brown led the team with 13 points scored, while Bianca Tgarza had ten points and 12 boards.  The Cardinals (0-3) were led by Shadae Rice, who finished with a game-high 15 points, to go along with six boards.  Rice was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.  Joanna Josama added six points and ten boards and Vania St. Louis had five points and six rebounds. 
 
York will look to rebound from the tough defeat on Tuesday when they host Purchase College at 6:00 p.m.
