Women’s Volleyball Drops Match to New Rochelle
NEW ROCHELLE, NY—Despite a strong effort from freshman
Stayce Kay Muirhead, who slammed 11 kills on just 19 attempts, the York College women's volleyball team lost in a non-conference match to the College of New Rochelle by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 25-20) on Friday evening.
Muirhead also digged seven balls and had two blocks in the defeat. Freshman Anteneika Burton added fives kills and a team-leading eight digs and
Evelyn Florentino had 13 assists.
New Rochelle was led by Elizabeth Johnson who registered a match-high 13 kills and by Kristina Nilaj who recorded 14 digs.
Trailing by one set, York had a chance to even up the score but lost a closely contested second match by just two points (28-26). CNR then used the momentum to take the third set and the match.
York (4-16) will travel to the College of Staten Island on Monday for a CUNYAC multi-match. York will take on Hunter and Brooklyn at 1 and 3:00 p.m.
