Late Rally Falls Short Against CSI; Men’s Soccer Falls 4-2

STATEN ISLAND, NY— The York College soccer team nearly overcame a three goal deficit but fell just short, losing by a score of 4-2 to the College of Staten Island Wednesday afternoon.
The Dolphins opened up the scoring early when Kenneth Zaw scored of a cross from Dong Luu in the fifth minute of play. The score would remain 1-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, Dong would add a goal of his own in the 63rd minute and Alen Desevic added a third goal for CSI in the 69th minute to put York in a big deficit.
The Cardinals fought back however, scoring their first goal of the game in the 80th minute, when during a free kick, Hugo Cicanois found Jonathan Ushyarov who beat the goalie in the left corner. Five minutes later, Khadim Kebe would add a goal off a rebound to make the score 3-2. Rachidi Amadolu picked up an assist on the play.
CSI would seal the game, however, in the 87th minute when Desevic scored his second tally of the day on a breakaway to make the final score 4-2.
With the loss, York drops to 2-5, 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while CSI improves to 1-7, 1-2 in the CUNYAC.
York will look to rebound when they visit Brooklyn on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
