, NY— The York College women's tennis team lost a tough match to conference-rival John Jay College Thursday afternoon, losing by a score of 5-4. 

 

With the loss, York drops to 0-3, 0-2 in the CUNYAC, while John Jay improves to 1-2, 1-0 in the CUNYAC. 

 

The Bloodhounds jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after taking two of the three doubles matches.  York's Ana Ko and Tenzin Kunchok picked up an 8-5 win at third doubles.

 

In singles play, Amba Chanoine edged John Jay's Ashley Marrero 6-4, 7-5 at second singles, Nina Olladikwankwu won 6-1, 7-6 at third singles and Irma Ruilova was victorious at sixth singles, winning 6-3, 6-3. 

 

The score was tied at 4-4 and it came down to #4 singles where York's Ana Ko took on the Bloodhound's Jessica Eng.  Ko took the first set 6-3, but Eng was able to rally back and take the next to sets and win the match for John Jay. 

 

York returns to action this Saturday when they visit the City College of New York at 1:30 p.m. The match will be played at Crotona Park in the Bronx.
