NEW YORK, NY— A number of York College track athletes competed at the New York City Qualifying Challenge at Icahn Stadium Saturday, in hopes of running qualifying times for the upcoming ECAC and NCAA Championships. Sophomore sprinter Kadisha Wickham ran an NCAA provisional time of 24.68 in the 200-meter dash. Wickham just missed out on an automatic bid by .09 seconds. However, she currently stands sixth in the country and therefore has a good chance of making it to the NCAA Championships with her provisional time.
In the women's 4x100 relay, the team of Denecia Gardiner, Wendella Rankin, Allana Wilson and Wickham finished second with a time of 48.85, which was just .2 seconds shy of the necessary 48.65 NCAA provisional time.
The NCAA championships will take place from May 27-May 29 at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and the ECAC Championships will be May 13-14 at Springfield College in Massachusetts.
