Women’s Tennis Closes Conference Schedule with 6-3 Win over Baruch

FLUSING MEADOWS, NY— The York College women's tennis team closed out the conference portion of its 2010 schedule on a positive note, defeating Baruch College 6-3 Friday afternoon. With the win, York improves to 7-7, 6-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Lady Cardinals can finish no worse than fourth and as high as third in the CUNYAC standings.
York got off it to a fast start, sweeping the doubles matches. Nicole Jones and Amba Chanoine were 8-1 winners at first singles, while the team of Nina Olladikankwu and Allana Wilson and the team of Anna Ko and Tenzin Kunchok won 8-3 at second and third doubles respectively.
York picked up its other three points from the bottom three flights in singles matches. Olladikankwu earned a three-set victory at fourth singles, winning 6-4, 1-6, 10-2. Ko won easily at fifth singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2 and Irma Ruilova won 6-2, 6-0 at sixth singles.
York will take on Pratt Institute on October 13 at 7:30 p.m.
