Women’s Tennis Falls to Rutgers-Newark, 7-2

NEWARK, NJ—The York College women's tennis team fell in a non-conference match, losing to Rutgers-Newark University by a score of 7-2 on Thursday afternoon.
The bottom flights for York had a nice afternoon, as Irma Ruilova was a 10-7 winner at fifth singles and Tenzin Kunchok won 8-6 at sixth singles. However, Rutgers-Newark swept doubles play and took the remaining singles matches to earn the victory.
With the loss, York drops to 6-7 on the season, while Rutgers-Newark improves to 5-5.
York will close out the conference portion of its schedule tomorrow when they visit Baruch College at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY. A win by the Lady Cardinals will secure the third seed in the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference playoffs.
