The match started off promising, and it looked like York might control the contest, after Emely Vasquez recorded a kill to give the Lady Cardinals a 15-11 advantage in the first set. Things quickly turned from there, as the Valiants rolled off eight of the next nine points to take a 19-16 lead. Manhattanville would go on to win the set 25-21.
The Valiants continued to pour it on from there, taking the second and third sets comfortably. The key to the game was the difference in hitting percentage. The Valiants recorded 33 kills to just 21 for York and hit .262 for the evening.
York was paced by Sharon Fordyce and Pamela Yap who each had four kills and eight digs.
With the win, Manhattanville improves to 6-0, while York drops to 4-12. York will look to bounce back on Monday when they battle conference-rivals Brooklyn College and Hunter College in a multi-match at Brooklyn College. The Lady Cardinals will play Hunter at 9 a.m. and Brooklyn at 1:00 p.m.
