Game Two Recap (April 25)
It was all York once the game picked back up in the top of the fourth on Saturday. After Brooklyn scored a run in the fourth inning to make it 15-8, York plated a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 15-12. Shanay Patalano and Geneva Faulk each had RBI singles in the fifth, while Brittany Patalano brought in a run with a single in the sixth. Patalano would later score on a pass ball.
York then opened the top of the seventh with three consecutive walks to load the bases. After a runner was forced out at the plate for the first out, Renita Raghubir lined a two-run single to cut the lead to 15-14. Wisam Mohamed then brought home the go-ahead run with a pinch-hit, two-RBI double to give the Lady Cardinals a 16-15 advantage.
The Bridges did not go quietly, however, as they loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Raghubir settled down and got Brooklyn's Ruth Perez to look at strike three to end the game.
Raghubir pitched five innings of relief, allowing just one earned run, while striking out three to earn her second victory of the season. She also went 2-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI. Brittany Patalano finished 3-5 with three runs and two RBI, while Shanay Patalano was 4-5 with three runs and an RBI.
Game One Recap (From April 1)
Things were going well for the York College softball team Wednesday, when they held a 9-5 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning against Brooklyn College, but the Lady Cardinals fortunes quickly changed as the Bridges exploded for 13 runs in the fifth inning to turn what looked like a win into a, 17-9, five-inning defeat.
York pitcher Renita Raghubir kept the Bridges in check for the first four innings of the game, holding Brooklyn to four hits and four runs, three of which were earned. However, the York bullpen failed to hold her lead when she came out after the fourth inning. A pair of relief pitchers allowed 11 free passes in the inning which was the main factor in Brooklyn's comeback.
Despite the loss, the top of the lineup for York had a big day against Brooklyn pitching. The top four batters in the lineup went a combined 8-16 in the game. Geneva Faulk went 3-4 with and RBI and a run scored, while Meriem Alahaine was 1-4 with two runs scored. Leadoff hitter Brittany Patalano went 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while her sister Shanay Patalano went 2-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
